Sneak Peek of September Lake Union Boats Afloat Show

SEATTLE - July 15, 2011 – Seattle’s 33rd annual Lake Union Boats Afloat Show gets underway on Wednesday September 14th at 10 am and continues through Sunday 18th, 2011.  At press time, applications from dealers and brokers were still rolling in but early indications are of some exciting new models, both power and sail, promising once again that Boats Afloat is a not-to-be-missed event that should be on every boater and would-be boater’s calendar. Also new for 2011 is Sport Boat Row featuring more than 30 wakeboard boats, ski boats and sport boats.

SAIL
Dan Krier, vice president, yacht sales for Marine Servicenter, was in France in July for the Jeanneau International Dealer Meeting and returned with the exciting news that they will have the all new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 379 in the Boats Afloat Show. This will be the North American debut for this boat which features a twin wheel cockpit – one of the few 37 foot boats in the marketplace to have a twin wheel cockpit – and a hard chine aft which creates   better form stability, increased interior volume, and is just damn sexy! The 379 was designed by renowned French naval architect Marc Lombard.

Marine Servicecenter will also be showing a new Hunter e36, one of Hunter's six new offerings for the 2011 model year. The e36 boasts a fold-down transom, which not only increases the interior aft cabin space by two feet, it also makes for a roomier cockpit.  The interior features a dinette-style face-to face table making on-board dining and entertaining much more comfortable and sociable.

POWER
Seattle Boat Company will have a Cobalt 243 on display. This is notable as it’s one of two new small cuddy cabins from Cobalt in four years. (The other is a 273). In addition to the superior construction and finely detailed interiors that are hallmarks of all Cobalts, the 243 boasts a sliding companionway door that enables both wide-open access to the cabin and a separate cockpit entrance to the head compartment. And sure to be a crowd pleaser is the all-new, patent-pending "wet step" swim platform.

New to the show, Inland Sound Yachts will be showing the inaugural IS48. The IS48 Integrates modern infused composite boatbuilding with the latest propulsion technology. A “tailgate” transom design with an integral davit and low-profile Flybridge maximize utility without compromising beauty. Additionally the IS48 has a remote monitoring feature that allows the monitoring of on board systems from one’s home computer or smart phone. The IS48 is built in Port Townsend, WA, and will be available on a semi-custom basis to better serve her owner’s precise intentions and tastes.
